Quotations
“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.” -- Dr. Adrian Rogers

I’m sick of paying! I want MY Money and MY America back! I’m sick of paying! I’m sick of paying for and rewarding bad behavior. Congress’ “great ideas” that primarily serve to benefit only themselves by legislating unfunded mandates that aid their voting blocks, lobbyist’s bosses and create personal fortunes for themselves and their “cronies” all at our expense. Such mandates have created the fiscal crisis we are now experiencing. i.e. legacy costs, pensions healthcare, Community Reinvestment Act , Reinvestment and Recovery Act and the list and on goes on. I am sick of the government, state and federal, deciding where my hard earned income goes and then offering it up as rebates, incentives, credits or refunds as if they are doing us a favor… so don’t take my dollar and give it back as a penny like some lord…just don’t take it in the first place! It is our money to begin with and I think I have a much better track record of how to manage my budget than they do! Who do they think they are? They act like kings bestowing riches upon their serfs with capital that doesn’t belong to them but rather to the taxpayers. I’m sick of paying for foreign aid, grants, “studies”, ACORN, bridges to nowhere, illegal aliens and system scamming disability-welfare recipients healthcare, childcare, food stamps, housing, education and cell phones just to mention a few. Not to mention, inefficiently run, redundant government agencies many of which are so busy protecting their fiefdoms they miss the big picture (9/11, Ft Hood?) and Americans lose their lives. I’m sick of paying for Congress’ healthcare, daycare, pensions , Nancy Pelosi’s jet and “trips”, Hillary’s TARP “gift” of $6 million to her pollster, $25 million for a “ Teddy “memorial which John Kerry bragged about as a great accomplishment …let him use Theresa’s money or better yet let the Kennedy’s use their own(decades in office I can’t name 1 piece of legislation that either has contributed that has significantly changed my life for the better but they all seem to be doing very well! ) I am sick of paying for, rendezvous’ for illicit trysts to Argentina (oops…that was a governor)pay raises and the likes, that Congress has the audacity to vote for themselves while simultaneously freezing social security payments to seniors who paid into the system for decades with the promise of a safeguard in their golden years. Congress increased their salaries by voting themselves a $4700/$5200 raise….
so much for politician’s promises…but not so for their employer constituents, the taxpaying Americans, who are footing the bill! I am tired of paying for people not to work. I’d kill for a 40 hour week even a 6 day work week…it would be a part time job for me and to get even one day a month off without my job intruding upon my life would be heaven! It snowed in Washington and they had to take the rest of the week off ? Are you kidding? I was recently informed by a “public servant” that he has 23 days a month off so are we now we paying people to sleep on the job? I am totally disgusted with the manner in which government treats our aging population and our veterans. It is a disgrace. Batten down the hatches and hold onto your wallet if this health care and “Cap and Trade” passes. The latest CBO accounting cannot even estimate the cost of the healthcare alone but in the past determined it was close to 20% of our GDP. Do the math!!! This will bankrupt our country!...unless they TAX US TO DEATH! You can only print and borrow money for so long or does Congress think that the cherry blossoms are suddenly going to sprout $1,000 bills? Oh, wait a minute, they’re talking trillions so better make it $1,000,000 bills. That‘s the differential between a billion and a trillion! What Congress, as usual, has failed to see is that a public option will break this already fragile economy. An unfunded mandate by Congress for companies to provide health insurance for their employees in the past resulted in converting employees to consultants(to evade the requirement) and the outsourcing of jobs which will now result in companies dropping the private healthcare also creating job losses as businesses will opt for an initially less expensive public option in an attempt to increase their bottom line and survive the new deluge of taxes and mandates levied upon them . Eventually, the private insurance companies won’t be able to compete with the government option and will evaporate leaving us with a government run monopoly on healthcare and more Americans added to the unemployment rolls while even more are added to the government payroll. Congress “brags” about the success of the healthcare program that they have voted for themselves…I actually wonder if it even has a deductable…. Mine was $7,500 per incident last year because as a small business person that is all I could afford. This year my premiums will be close to $12,000/year for 2 people and it’s no “Cadillac plan”! If an aspirin costs $1 to produce and Congress pays only a penny for that aspirin the difference doesn’t magically disappear just because they “legislate so” someone has to pay the difference. What Congress neglects to inform you of is that their healthcare is subsidized. Subsidized means that cost exceeds what is being paid…so we, the taxpayers, are picking up that tab as well. They claim they have controlled costs. ..bullying and “behind closed door deals” like “bribing” the new Louisiana Purchase and Nebraska Senators would be illegal in the private sector…so much for transparency! And what ever happened to CNN? There is nothing for free, someone is paying…it may not be you but the cost still exists. This new underfunded program will be no different than Medicare, Medicaid , and Social Security that are nothing more than overstaffed, poorly managed ponzi schemes predicated on people working. Yes, that is what I said WORKING! And by the way, don’t forget that moneymaker, the post office. It is a lot easier to legislate and mandate than it is to create and generate new permanent jobs. Jobs are not created by government but by people…entrepreneurs that are willing to take risks and work hard to make a better way of life for their families. This was the primary reason our immigrant forefathers came to this country, not for entitlements, but to work which equaled reward and they learned ENGLISH! Who said you’re entitled to anything. I was brought up with the American Ideal that you earned your keep and if something was handed to you , you graciously said “thank you “ and were appreciative not arrogantly demanding more! Suggestion to reduce healthcare costs: 1)Competition-the more companies ALLOWED to offer Healthcare nationally the better-the free market system will reduce costs as more companies will be vying for your business-this should also result in the elimination of lobbyists who “buy” access and votes to create mini monopolies. 2) It should be portable- job to job/state to state 3) Congress provides their own healthcare which should be the same as what is available to their constituents who are paying for it. They get this healthcare only while in office and can COBRA after their term expires… they pay just like we do! TERM LIMITS !!!! Unlike many members of Congress, most of whom have no experience in the private sector or balancing a REAL budget and who consider the American taxpayer their personal piggy bank, returning time and again to OUR watering trough, in the form of TAX after TAX after TAX to correct their misguided mandates, to work is a concept apparently foreign to them. By the way, how much time do most of them actually spend working? Not playing golf, partying and socializing, flying to foreign countries with friends and family, meeting mistresses and under aged boys and yes all on our nickel! Perhaps if they had to pay their own way and fly coach like the rest of us they would have a better understanding of our struggle for survival. How many of them took private jets to the Energy summit in Copenhagen…what hypocrites! One Congressman admitted he had no idea that the room rate per night was $2,200! Why not?... and guess who paid for that as well? We did! Suggestion: Congress must publicly account for their attendance, travel and voting record while in office/the number of staff they employ and the cost for that staff/fully disclose campaign contributions in an easily accessible manner to their constituents/disclose all of their holdings/tax returns /and expense accounts/ Did you ever wonder why anyone would spend millions of dollars to get elected to a position that pays substantially less…think about it.. How do so many wind up millionaires as career politicians and create political dynasties when their private sector counterparts don’t even come close…and then they move on to become lobbyists! Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely! Eliminate lobbyists! Term Limits! Suggestion: Requirements to hold public office…1) have balanced a budget in the private sector without any government assistance. 2) each candidate running for office would be allotted equal capitol , this would level the playing field and illustrate a candidates creativity and fiscal responsibility on a fixed budget…similar to what taxpayers already do in REAL LIFE/ Campaign time would be limited to 1-3 months prior to an election as so many run for office while already holding another..I wish I could apply for another job while still getting paid for one I am not doing! Suggestion: Pensions: Congress should not be able to vote themselves pay raises/perks, etc. but should be required to receive social security just like the people they allegedly represent! /pay raises should be determined by their employers…we, the US taxpayers!! The “Porkulis” package which no one in Congress even read is about to quietly pass a Cap and Trade Tax Bill on energy … a 40% tax on energy, that will further devastate small businesses not to mention making it even more difficult for struggling families to survive. There won’t be any Christmas lights next year!...No one will be able to afford it! Oh, I almost forgot I am not supposed to use the word Christmas anymore either. Who is making these rules? The same phantoms that are writing these 2,000 page bills? If you think government invades your privacy now just wait for Cap and Trade. One provision in this bill requires a new government agency, possibly an arm of the EPA(including taxpayer payments to salaries, healthcare, pensions, perks, etc.)to enter your home and inspect it for energy efficiency, in effect do a FORCED energy audit. The Homeowner will then be REQUIRED to make the recommended changes i.e. new furnace/boiler, windows any energy upgrades deemed necessary by BIG BROTHER. You see I have actually read some of the bill! Can you imagine how much this will cost?...Not to mention trying to re-coop the costs in your sales price even if you have the funds to spend in the first place?…let me guess another government created oversight agency and another tax credit to help we indentured servants who are just incapable of managing our own lives… Whoopee! And as usual time is never of the essence with government. If you think it is difficult to sell your home now in a timely fashion just wait until the government injects itself further into your life. Remember Title V ? Big Brother is already in your septic tank! Czars –Who are these people? The president has appointed 32-+ czars who answer only to him and have the “final word” on everything from cars and energy to obesity and your pay, monitoring almost every aspect of our lives. They are not vetted nor elected by anyone. They are all paid salaries and perks…I guess I missed that article in the Constitution. And now the President is creating Debt Commission, hand picked by him, to determine whether or not Congress is spending too much. This would be laughable if it was not our tax dollars that they are wasting again! Suggestion: Eliminate them all! Remember what happened to the Russian Czars? We already have a Cabinet full of income tax evaders which we should also replace with law abiding citizens. P.S. No pensions for law breakers! Think of how much we would save on Congress alone! See, this is how you save money…cut the fat! Starting with make work government jobs. Nothing incenses me more than driving down 495 and seeing Mass Highway signs saying “We’re working for you” that cost us $25 million nationwide. Yes, it saved some jobs but how many at that price? Some calculations estimate each job cost us $100-$500k each…. Where do I sign up? As usual, government overpays for everything. You cannot spend yourself into prosperity just into greater debt which the public knows but obviously Washington does not which is why the country and the world are at this juncture. Suggestion: Get government out of everything except what the Constitution charges them to do. They are not Santa Claus but have entrenched themselves into so many aspects of our daily lives no one is going to kill Santa. Even Santa does not reward bad behavior . Think of the money we would save if it never went to Washington in the first place! If we were ALLOWED to keep OUR hard earned income rather than sending it to DC, people might then have A modicum of disposable income. This may help to restore people’s sense of control over their own lives which is sorely lacking due to government’s invasive attempt to micro manage every detail of it. This would naturally stimulate the economy as people would not be as fearful to spend. It is no longer a question of having more it is a question of having enough which we do not right now as Uncle ‘Sam digs deeper and deeper into OUR pockets! Suggestion: Put the money back in the hands of the people that earned it by not taking it in the first place and send the stimulus back to us! Consumer confidence is at an all time low. Unlike Congress most taxpayers don’t spend more than their means and have cut back creating a domino effect in our economy . Cut taxes across the board while simultaneously cutting spending/One cannot work without the other as WE are all acutely aware. It’s like going on a diet without out exercising…no pain no gain! The private sector supports the monopoly of the public sector which is paid more for their counterpart jobs, perks and pensions!!!When people collect for periods of time that exceed the amount of time that they actually worked you are in negative digits! Again, overpaying for people not to work. John Edwards was partially right about one thing …there are 2 Americas but it is not the rich and poor rather it is Congress…the rule makers / breakers and the American taxpayer who picks up the tab for their misguided mandates. Perhaps if our illustrious elected officials had to live like the constituents they allegedly represent they might vote differently. Let’s face it politicians votes are based on their own best interest not ours ….their employers! TERM LIMITS!!!TERM LIMITS!!!!TERM LIMITS!!!! 70% of the stimulus money has not been spent. Much of the money was used for bail outs, political pay-offs, keeping state governments afloat and high salaries and bonuses to bankers and Wall Street, as our legislators neglected to place any restrictions on where the money could be spent, . Incidentally, the jobs they take credit for saving…primarily public sector…not private. And why is that? Call me politically incorrect for wanting to keep my hard earned cash for my own family and determine for myself what healthcare plan, car or soda suits my needs. We know what the problems are…we need viable solutions. If you believe government is the remedy you are in serious trouble. What has government ever run under budget or on time? Government is interfering with every aspect of our lives, acting as though they know what it better for us than we do. By allowing government to make decisions for us we are rapidly losing OUR DEMOCRACY. Congress needs to stop playing partisan politics and do what is good for the country for a change-that’s change I can believe in. Remember, the right thing to do is never the path of least resistance or we would all take the first time. Our country is the greatest , most generous and was the freest in the world…why do you think everyone wants to come here? Unfortunately, we are becoming a “Nanny” state where government makes decisions on our behalf without our consent and punishes the responsible for the irresponsible by forcing a redistribution of wealth. Charity begins at home. GOD SAVE AMERICA!
